Relay for Life 2023
“There’s no finish line until we find a cure” is a beautiful slogan for the Cancer Society’s Relay for Life fundraising event. Together with the Palmerston North community, the TR team ran, walked, and hobbled with determination – taking pride in raising funds for the fight against cancer.
Over 100 teams rallied together as a community at the Hokowhitu Riverside Walkway in Manawatu from 25 to 26 March. All the event participants finished an impressive total of 40,000 kilometres throughout the event. Proving that local communities can raise awareness and stomp on this disease, one step at a time, in a fun and healthy way.
Team TR Palmy had a great time with everyone who participated. Our local team organiser Scott Penny said, “There was good camaraderie, friendly banter with the other teams, live bands, and more. It was truly a heart-warming event. On top of that, we came in a respectable 37th place out of over 100 teams and raised nearly $1,000 for the Cancer Society.”
We are very proud of our Palmerston North team and what they accomplished at Relay for Life 2023. The fight against cancer is a cause close to our hearts at TR and participating in fundraisers like this is not only a fun team-building activity, it also supports a worthy cause.
