On the 1st of March, New Zealand’s first national tyre recycling scheme was launched.

Hyzon Motors Inc. (Hyzon) (NASDAQ: HYZN), a leading hydrogen fuel cell technology developer and global supplier of zero-emission heavy-duty fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs), today announced a revised commercial agreement with TR Group, New Zealand's largest heavy-duty truck fleet owner, for up to 20 FCEVs upfit with Hyzon’s single stack 200kW fuel cell system starting with a commercial trial.

This seemingly harmless practice has significant costs and consequences for the environment, the economy, and the health and safety of drivers and communities. This blog will explore these issues and discuss ways to reduce truck engine idling.

Here at TR Group, we are in the early days of our journey to reduce our impact on the environment. We have some clear plans and goals to work through, but one of our first initiatives was water conservation on our vehicle washes – something visible to our team and customers that we hope will help change how people think about our natural resources and how we use them.

TR Group has ordered 20 x Hyzon Hydrogen Fuel Cell Trucks for the New Zealand market. The 600HP, 58 tonne GCM tractor units will be powered by 100% green hydrogen, with the only emissions being water vapour. The 20 HFC trucks will remove approximately 5,000 tonnes of CO2 from our atmosphere every year and will be made available to customers by way of a Fully Maintained Operating Lease (FMOL), including fuel.

TR Group’s commitment to sustainability keeps growing as we look for new ways to make sure that the way we operate our fleet is effective while also decreasing our environmental impact.

On July 12th, a Fuso eCanter, Fuso’s first factory production-run electric truck to hit the roads in the Southern Hemisphere, was handed over by TR Group and Fuso New Zealand to Genesis.

TR Group has taken delivery of three electric 11-tonne GVM 4x2 SEA powered curtainside trucks suitable for the round-town pick-up and delivery market.

A collaboration between some of the country’s leading manufacturing and transport companies will mean hundreds of plastic truck mudguards will not be going to landfill this year – and instead will be recycled into new mudguards for heavy commercial vehicles.

TR Group has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Hiringa Energy to offer heavy fuel cell electric trucks for the New Zealand Market.
